Sacrament Preparation

First Communion: Letters were sent out to families who have children to be considered for preparation for First Communion through our Children of Light program. If you, or someone you know, have some questions about this process, please contact Sr. Kathleen at 216-486-0850.

Confirmation: Bishop Lennon has announced that the age of Confrimation throughout the Cleveland Diocese will now be 8th grade or older. As we strive to develop programming at Our Lady of the Lake, we need to understand the number of potential candidates for Confrimation at Our Lady of the Lake. If you have a young person in your household who will be in 8th grade or older for the 2010-11 school year - or an adult - who has been Baptized and made First Communion and is interested in Confirmation, please contact Rita Testa at 216-486-0850.

Curious about Catholicism: If you are not yet Catholic or have not completed your initiation into the Church through the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist, please consider attending our inquiry sessions which will begin June 22, 2010 at 7p at the rectory. We warmly welcome you and your questions! Feel free to bring a spouse or friend ~ or come on your own! For further information, contact Sr. Kathleen at 486-0850.

"Stay There Until You Leave"

Fr. Joe would like to invite every Our Lady of the Lake parishioner to consider inviting him to their home or to a public spot for a little while. It could be on a weekday evening for an hour or two. Or perhaps you could carve out a little time during the day on a weekend. Together, you can negotiate a time that is mutually agreeable. However, he is not asking you to invite him alone. He would like you to invite others as well. They might be parishioners or they might be people who live nearby. They might even be people who have no connection to the Catholic Church at all! They would simple be people whom you would invite.

There would be NO AGENDA, except the agenda that each person brings to the gathering. it would be an opportunity for anyone to talk about anything about God, Church, parish, life or anything at all from a faith perspective. Nothing would be off limits. The purpose would be to create a context in which conversation can flow freely, acquaintances can be made, relationships can be formed and the seeds of a growing community can be sown. The beauty of this plan is that other than extending invitations and providing a little hospitality (no meal is necessary!), there is very little preparation required. Together, you set up the time and place. You meet and talk. You do what you have to do until you have finished. You stay until you leave.

If you are interested in hosting a conversation with Fr. Joe, please call the rectory at 216/486-0850.
