Do you like to sing? Do you have a desire to share your voice with our worshiping community? The Holy Cross Music Ministry is actively seeking new members for 2008-2009. You do not need to know how to read music. We have several groups to choose from. We rehearse once per week and minister at 1 mass each weekend. Rehearsals start on August 21, 2008. Interested people ages 16 + are encouraged to contact Music Director, Mike Caraffi at 216-486-0850 ext 29.

Participation in the Holy Cross Music Ministry also counts towards service hours for Holy Cross School families.

Adult Choir

Under the direction of the parish Director of Music Ministries, the adult choir consists of men and women from the parish who have a general love of music and a willingness to share their talent with the community. The choir season runs from early September through early June. The choir has a regular weekly rehearsal and beginning in 2005 will be ministering at one liturgy each week. Enrollment is open to men and women of the parish ages 16 and older. Contemporary Choir

Under the direction of Mr. Jim Markle and supervision of our Parish Director of Music Ministries, the Contemporary Choir provides mixed instrumentation during Sunday liturgies. The Contemporary Choir does occasionally join forces with the Adult Choir to minister during major liturgical celebrations throughout the year. Enrollment is open to men and women vocalists and guitarists. Schola Ensemble

New in fall of 2005, the Holy Cross Schola ensemble is comprised of men and women of the parish who not only love to sing, but also have the desire to sing more challenging literature. The ensemble ministers at select liturgies throughout the year, but also at Para-liturgical events such as Confirmation, Good Friday and Generations of Faith. Enrollment is open to men and women of the parish by audition only. Cantors

The cantor’s primary functions are to serve as a leader of prayer, psalmist, and teacher. The cantor in conjunction with the parish Director of Music Ministries and the entire Music Ministry collectively work towards the facilitation of the “full and active participation of the assembly.” Cantors also work towards certification by the National Association of Pastoral Musicians. Rehearsals are weekly. Cantors also meet with their scheduled accompanist ½ hour prior to their scheduled liturgy.
