BAPTISM:
Interviews
Parents presenting their first child for baptism at Holy Cross are required to meet with a member of the parish staff to schedule the child's baptism. This session is designed to acquaint them with the sacrament itself, and provide help in parenting and passing on the values and traditions of our Catholic faith. The celebrations of baptism take place at regularly scheduled parish weekend liturgies or on Sunday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. No baptisms are scheduled during Lent.
Visits
After the initial conversation, a member of the Baptism committee will meet the parent(s) and bring a gift from the parish community.
Baptism visitors and bakers are welcome anytime of the year. Visitors are contacted on an "as-needed" basis. They are then responsible for making a baked good (or calling a "baker") and delivering the Baptism bag and goodies to the family.
Baptism Day
This is a day for parents and prospective parents to gather, reflect and share experiences about Baptism. It is held on four Sundays a year from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Rectory. All parents requesting baptism for their children are expected to attend at least one Baptism Day.
The next Baptism Days will be September 9
and December 2, 2007. Please call the rectory (486-0850) if you'd
like to attend. Anyone connected to the child being baptized
is welcome to attend - this includes godparents and grandparents!
